When it comes to penis size, many studies and statistical facts are not reliable. In the past, recording penis size was based on “self reporting” and many men exaggerated their dimensions, resulting in skewed statistics. A new study published in the British Journal of Urology International, used a standardized measuring procedure in order to yield the most reliable results.
The study correlated 17 previous academic studies and papers about penis size.
These 17 academic papers had ~15,500 measurements of men’s penises from around the globe. Using this data, they were able to compute averages.
Measurements were taken from the pubic bone to the tip of the glands on the top of the penis. In order to solely measure the penis, fat that covers the pubic bone was compressed. In addition, any extra length from foreskin was also not measured. The circumference of the penis was measured either in the middle of the shaft or at the base of the penis.
According to this study and analysis, an average, flaccid penis is 3.61 inches and an average erect penis is 5.16 inches long. When it comes to girth, for a flaccid penis, 3.66 inches and for an erect penis 4.59 inches.
