Developed by one of the world’s top urologists in 2004, the Penuma penile implant is a silicone sleeve, similar to other implants used in cosmetic enhancement. It is the first cleared implant for penile enhancement and continues to deliver a solution to male enhancement for thousands of men since its introduction.
As you learn more about the Penuma penile implant, you may have wondered about the differences between the Penuma implant and implants such as those used in breast enhancement procedures. Both are similar in that they are using a material implanted beneath the skin to increase the size and shape of a particular anatomical area. Both breast and Penuma penile implants require a highly trained professional to produce the results envisioned by the patient. However, there are also several differences.
Beyond the difference in location and anatomy, there are three main differences between breast implants and Penuma penile implants. These include the differences in implant material and shape, and the implant procedures themselves.
Breast implants can come in a variety of materials. The type selected depends upon the results desired. In 1961, the first prosthesis silicone breast implant was created and was filled with silicone gel. Saline breast implants came on the market shortly after in 1964.
Currently, there are four main options for breast implants:
The Penuma implant is made of soft silicone, but with zero liquid or gel, unlike breast implants. The Penuma penile implant acts as a sleeve, partially enveloping 270 degrees around the shaft, expanding open as the penis becomes erect. The Penuma penile implant does not leak or change shape as it is a soft, solid implant, customized to your shape.
Due to the anatomy of the tissue that is to be enhanced, there is also a difference in the shape of breast implants versus the Penuma penile implant. Breast implants have a more rounded and capsule shape since they are designed to improve the soft and rounded tissue of the breast. However, the Penuma penile implant is designed with a unique and dynamic anatomical feature which is compatible with the penis in different states depending on arousal level. It can enhance not only the flaccid penis but also erect penile girth.
Breast implant procedures take around 2 hours to complete, with incisions under the breast (inframammary), the armpit (axillary), around the areola (periareolar) and in the belly button (periumbilical).
The Penuma penile implant is a more straightforward surgical procedure that requires no incisions or stitches on the penis. The single incision is above the shaft in the pubic area, which will be hidden by hair regrowth after the surgery. Due to the nature of the procedure, the Penuma penile implant surgery is short with patients typically back to work within a few days. Individual results may vary.
While breast implants and the Penuma penile implant are very different, the Penuma penile implant owes a lot to the creation of breast implants decades before. Dr. Elist was inspired by how breast implants have been able to help boost women’s confidence since the 60s. Through dedicated research, he created the Penuma penile implant with other world-renowned urologists. It is a modern technological achievement that has excellent levels of success and has proven to be a great way to help men lead more confident lives.
The Penuma penile implant is performed by Dr. James Elist in Beverly Hills and has been improving men’s lives since 2004. The Penuma implant appears and feels natural and can be removed if desired. It requires minimal downtime and does not interfere with normal penis function. To learn more about the Penuma penile implant and to schedule a consultation, please call (310) 652-2600.
