Tadalafil Vs. Common Erectile Dysfunction Treatments

Tadalafil Vs. Common Erectile Dysfunction Treatments

Both Viagra and Tadalafil (Cialis) work in the same way to enhance the male sexual performance. Viagra has been popular for more than 15 years but due to certain advantages of Cialis over Viagra (such as quick onset and longer duration of action) most people consider Tadalafil as a better option for treating erectile dysfunction.

There are several other erectile dysfunction treatment options. Let’s see how Cialis compares with other ED therapies:

Tadalafil Vs Levitra

Levitra has found to be effective when Viagra fails to work. Both Tadalafil and Levitra have same mechanism of action and can be taken with or without food. The onset of action and effectiveness makes Tadalafil a better option as compared to Levitra. Levitra should be taken at least an hour before sexual intercourse whereas Cialis should be ideally taken half an hour before and then there is no need any drug for the next 24 hours. Furthermore, comparative studies suggest that Tadalafil is more effective in diabetic patients.

Tadalafil Vs VED (Vacuum Erection therapy)

American Urology Associations consider VED as the most effective and safe method for treating erectile dysfunction. These devices are found to be more effective than most oral medications (such as Cialis) because VED promotes the blood flow towards t penis and the tension bands in vacuum pump helps in maintaining the erections for longer period. Studies have proved that vacuum devices are better than oral medications (especially if the person is trained to use the VED); however, combining both device and the oral drug yields even more satisfactory results.

Tadalafil Vs MUSE

MUSE (Alprostadil) suppositories are also used popularly to manage the symptoms of ED. These are urethral suppositories i.e. suppository is inserted inside the penis. Though, the onset of action is quicker than Tadalafil i.e. the maximum effect is reached within 5-10 min. But it is also noteworthy that the effect lasts only for 30 or 60min. This makes Cialis more convenient and effective treatment option. Also, popping single pill is far easier than inserting a suppository in the penis.

Tadalafil Vs Penile Prosthesis:

Common Oral Medications For Erectile Dysfunction ImagePenile prosthesis/implants are considered the second line of treatment for erectile dysfunction. Usually doctors suggest these implants when male performance enhancing drugs like Tadalafil and Viagra doesn’t work at all. Moreover, these drugs may or may not work on men having cardiac disease or diabetes and therefore, the effectiveness of Tadalafil differs among people but penile prosthesis is an option that efficiently works for almost all the men. Though there are other option as well such as penile injections but men don’t find these strategies very convenient, especially for spontaneous sex. So far, penile implants/prosthesis are found to be the most effective way for providing satisfactory and consistent results.

Tadalafil Vs Trimix Injections

Trimix injections are a combination of three drugs that are used for treating ED effectively. Men who don’t get satisfactory results from traditional oral medications (Cialis, Viagra, and Levitra) or experiences severe side effects from their use, can opt for these injections. As compared to Tadalafil, Trimax injections yields quicker onset of action and prolong effects to maintain erections till the end. Moreover, this method is also cost effective and alcohol consumption won’t alter its effectiveness.

Tadalafil Vs Shockwave For ED

Erectile dysfunction shock wave therapy (EDSWT) is an advanced therapy to address the symptoms of erectile dysfunction. The results obtained from the studies suggests that this treatment is as good as other ED treatment options and if combined with oral agents, will yield more promising results in men who don’t respond well to the oral agents alone. EDSWT is quite effective in men with vascular erectile dysfunction which means that it will also work on men who are obese, hypertensive and diabetic.

Tadalafil For Treatment Of Men With ED And BPH

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition that is characterized by frequent urge to urinate. The urinary system becomes weak and the affected person experiences dribbling after urination. Tadalafil was initially developed for treating ED but later it was found that it can also relieve symptoms of BPH therefore, US FDA has approved the use of Cialis in men who have both ED and BPH. The recommended dose for treating both conditions is 5mg, daily.

Effectiveness Of Tadalafil For Treatment Of Symptoms Of BPH

There are many research studies that proves how effectively Cialis relieves lower urinary tract symptoms, caused as a result of BPH. One such study suggests that among different standard doses, 5mg of Tadalafil has a better risk-benefit profile. Higher doses can cause myalgia, headache and back pain. The mode of action is not clearly known but experts suggest that drug acts by increasing vascular perfusion in lower urinary tract.

Tadalafil For Treatment Of ED After Radical Prostatectomy

Radical Prostatectomy is a surgical procedure that involves removal of prostate and surrounding tissues. As a common side effect, men often experiences erectile dysfunction for few months or even a few years. In order to restore natural erections and optimal sexual performance, Tadalafil is often recommended.
